- Do you feel you became more anxious during CASC type exams than most other candidates?
- Do you feel yuou have blockages in your thinking or performance that are likely to prevent you from passing CASC?
- Do you feel you need more personalised, direct input about your performance and needs?
- Are you motivated to change practise in order to succeed in CASC and communicate better in clinical practise?
If so, then the Oxfordpsych Course Intensive CASC Communication Skills Training can help.
The main difference between Intensive CASC Communication Skills Training and CASC Preparation Training is in the pace and the reduced numbers, so enabling a greater level of intensity, of individualised reflection and team input, creating more targetted training. There are half as many people on the Intensive course (16 not 32) and a higher team to participant ratio, which allows more time for individual input and more reflection on each individual's practise, finding out why candidates communicate as they do, potential fears and negative thought patterns, and elements that prevent candidates from demonstrating their skills and competencies. Throughout the course, reflection is encouraged on personal strengths and areas to improve, in the context of the clinical and communication skills and competencies needed to pass CASC. The 'Intensity' of the course is in the reflection of where the issues lie for each individual and the practise of potential solutions.
Like CASC Preparation Training, the skills and competencies are practised throughout the course in the context of CASC style scenarios, with experienced CASC tutors, both actor and examiners. Common elements considered also include coping with CASC anxiety, confidence and assertiveness and common unhelpful thinking about the exam and Royal College. The course also has the option to use film to show candidate's their performance, if it is felt to be useful to aid reflection.
The course is facilitated by a team of very experienced tutors and actors with a passion for helping psychiatrists improve, who use interactive techniques to help canidates develop their style, skills and confidence in consulting with patients.
Intensive CASC Communication Skills Training includes free online video access until your exams, newly updated course materials with detailed guidance on how to approach different CASC style scenarios and ongoing e-mail support.
Places are limited to 16 per course, and are allocated on a first come first served basis.
